SUBJ: IPS HF RADIO COMMUNICATIONS WARNING 01/09
ISSUED AT 19/2133Z MARCH 2001
BY THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE.
TWO WEAK SHOCKS WERE OBSERVED IN THE SOLAR WIND
AT 1021UT and 1441UT ON 19 MARCH. TWO MINOR
STORM PERIODS FOLLOWED IMPULSES.
SOUTHERN REGION (MID TO HIGH LATITUDES) AUS/NZ MUFS
ARE BECOMING DEPRESSED AFTER LOCAL DAWN THIS MORNING.
DEPRESSIONS ARE EXPECTED FOR FIRST HALF OF DAY FOR
SOUTHERN REGION AUS/NZ THEN RECOVERING.
NORTHERN REGION (LOW LATITUDES) MUFS ARE EXPECTED TO
REMAIN NEAR NORMAL, DUE TO SHORT DURATION AND MODERATE
MAGNITUDE OF GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY. HF COMMUNICATORS IN
NORTHERN AUS/EQUATORIAL REGIONS SHOULD CONTINUE TO USE
THE MONTHLY T INDEX OF 115.
