SUBJ: IPS HF RADIO COMMUNICATIONS WARNING 01/25
ISSUED AT 15/2354Z APRIL 2001
BY THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE.
HF COMMS FADEOUTS EXPECTED DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS
FROM 16-18 APRIL 2001. THE SOLAR REGION THAT
PRODUCED THE RECENT X14 SOLAR FLARE ACTIVITY IS
NEARING THE WESTERN LIMB OF THE SUN. FURTHER FLARE
ACTIVITY IS LIKELY AS THIS REGION ROTATES OFF DISK.
SOLAR FLARE ACTIVITY IS THEN GENERALLY EXPECTED TO DECLINE.
HOWEVER, A LARGE PREVIOUSLY FLARING SOLAR REGION (SEC 9393)
IS DUE BACK TO THE EASTERN LIMB AROUND 18 APRIL. SOLAR
FLARE ACTIVITY MAY INCREASE AFTER THIS DATE IF THIS REGION
RETURNS OR REPRESENTED AN ACTIVE SOLAR LONGITUDE.
IF COMMS DIFFICULTIES EXPERIENCED TRY A HIGHER FREQUENCY BAND
