SUBJ: SWS GEOMAGNETIC DISTURBANCE WARNING 19/11
ISSUED AT 0512UT/13 MAY 2019
BY THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE.
Two slow moving CMEs originating from disappearing solar filaments
are expected to impact the Earth around 05UT on 15 May and 09UT
on 16 May, respectively. The CMEs originated from the centre
of the visible solar disk and hence the likelihood of impact
at Earth is high. As a result, the global geomagnetic activity
is expected to reach Minor Storm levels on UT days 15-17 May.
Isolated Major Storm levels are also possible, if IMF turned
southward for sustained periods. Auroral displays over southern
Australian regions are likely, particularly for Tasmania, on
the local nights of 15 and 16 May.
INCREASED GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY EXPECTED
DUE TO CORONAL MASS EJECTION
FROM 15-17 MAY 2019
