SUBJ: IPS GEOMAGNETIC DISTURBANCE WARNING 05/35
ISSUED AT 20/0227Z DECEMBER 2005
BY THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE.

A gradual increase in the solar wind speed has been
happening for the last few hours and the north-south 
component of the interplanetary magnetic field has 
also been showing fluctuations and southward orientation. 
The cause of this disturbance is not very clear at this 
stage, but a visibly weak coronal hole, which is currently 
in a geoeffective position, may be responsible for this. 
Geomagnetic activity may rise to active levels with 
some possibility of isolated minor storm periods during 
the rest of the UT day today.
