SUBJ: IPS GEOMAGNETIC DISTURBANCE WARNING 02/27
ISSUED AT 02/0450Z AUGUST 2002
BY THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE.

So far today the imterplanetary magnetic field
has been southward (10nT) for nearly 5 hours.
This behaviour of Bz, together with the post
shock effect of the CME observed on 29 July,
has resulted in raising the geomagnetic 
activity to minor storm level. If Bz continues
to remain southward, the geomagnetic activity
may remain at a higher level than otherwise 
expected on 2 August (UT Day).

INCREASED GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY EXPECTED
FROM 02 AUGUST 2002
