SUBJ: ASWFC DAILY SOLAR AND GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED AT 2330UT/26 OCTOBER 2026
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE WEATHER FORECASTING CENTRE
SUMMARY FOR 26 OCTOBER AND FORECAST FOR 27 OCTOBER - 29 OCTOBER
STATUS INDICATORS SOL:GREEN MAG:GREEN ION: GREEN

-----------------------------------------------------------
1A. SOLAR SUMMARY
Activity 26 Oct: R0
Flares: none.
Observed 10.7 cm flux/Equivalent Sunspot Number for 26 Oct: 91/36
1B. SOLAR FORECAST
27 Oct 28 Oct 29 Oct
Activity R0 R0 R0
Fadeouts None expected None expected None expected
10.7cm/SSN 90/34 85/27 85/27
COMMENT: Solar flare activity on UT day 26-Oct was at the R0
level, with no significant flares observed. There are currently
two numbered and one unnumbered Active Regions (ARs) visible
on the solar disk. AR 4561 (S11W75, beta) remains the largest
region and has exhibited signs of mild decay and spot separation
as it approaches the western limb. An unnumbered region has recently
developed near S17W40 but remains magnetically simple. AR 4562
(S15E54, alpha) remained mostly stable across the UT day. Solar
flare activity is forecast to be at the R0 level over 27-29 Oct.
S0 solar radiation storm conditions were observed throughout
UT day 26-Oct, with S0 conditions expected to persist over 27-29
Oct. There were no Earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs)
observed over UT day 26-Oct. Two west-directed CMEs were observed
in SOHO/LASCO coronograph imagery at 26/0912UT and 26/1848UT
following flare activity from AR 4561. Modelling suggests these
CMEs are not geoeffective and will pass ahead of the Earth. The
solar wind speed on UT day 26-Oct remained at background levels,
ranging between 340 and 380 km/s, and is currently near 370 km/s.
The peak total interplanetary magnetic field strength (IMF, Bt)
was 11 nT and the north-south IMF component (Bz) ranged from
-7 to +6 nT. The solar wind speed is expected to remain at ambient
levels across 27-29 Oct.

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.
NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and International Center for Space Weather
Science and Education, Japan.

29 Oct 6 G0
COMMENT: G0 geomagnetic conditions were observed across the Australian
and Antarctic regions on UT day 26-Oct, with G0 conditions also
reported at the planetary level. G0 geomagnetic conditions are
forecast over 27-29 Oct.
