SUBJ: ASWFC AURORA WATCH
ISSUED AT 0325 UT ON 05 Nov 2023
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE WEATHER FORECASTING CENTRE
A coronal mass ejection (CME) associated with a large filament
eruption is expected to impact Earth around 1900 UT on 05-Nov +/- 12
hours, possibly inducing planetary G2-G3 geomagnetic conditions. There
is a degree of uncertainty regarding the time of arrival and strength
of impact due to the nature of this CME, but auroras may be visible in
Tasmania, southern Victoria and parts of southern South Australia
during local nighttime hours over UT days 05-06 Nov. Aurora alerts
will follow if significant geomagnetic activity actually occurs.
