SUBJ: ASWFC AURORA OUTLOOK
ISSUED AT 0507 UT ON 22 Apr 2023
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE WEATHER FORECASTING CENTRE
A coronal mass ejection is expected to impact the Earth in the second
half of UT day 23-Apr, possibly resulting in significant geomagnetic
activity and visible auroras during local night hours. Aurora
sightings will be most likely in Tasmania and southern Victoria,
particularly on the morning of 24-Apr and the evening of 25-Apr
(AEST). Aurora alerts will follow if significant geomagnetic activity
actually occurs.
