SUBJ: SWS AURORA WATCH
ISSUED AT 2304 UT ON 01 Jun 2018 by Space Weather Services
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
The Earth is currently under the influence of a high speed solar wind
stream from a recurrent coronal hole. This will result in increased
geomagnetic activity and possible visible auroras during local
nighttime hours for southernmost Australian regions (e.g. Tasmania and
possibly coastline of Victoria) should favourable viewing conditions,
high solar wind speeds and sustained southward Bz conditions
eventuate. Aurora alerts will follow if significant geomagnetic
activity occurs. Please check our Aurora page at
http://www.sws.bom.gov.au/Aurora and the "Auroral Oval Tool" for
information on viewing locations.
