SUBJ: IPS AURORA WATCH
ISSUED AT 0033 UT ON 04 Nov 2015 BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
The solar winds are currently very strong, nearly 800 km/s. This is
caused by high speed streams emanating from a recurrent, large
equatorial coronal hole now at geoeffective position on the solar
disk. Should the IMF Bz turn strongly southward for few hours,
currently Bz is near 0 nT, severe geomagnetic storms could occur
during such high solar wind conditions. There is good chance of aurora
sightings this evenings from Southern Australian regions, possibly
extending at times to Central regions.
