Due to software and hardware upgrades, the WDC-A is compelled to
migrate ionosonde data to different disk space and a slightly different
ftp/http layout.

Presently we are migrating 2008 and earlier data to its new home.
During this process, such data will be inaccessible to users of these:
http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/stp/IONO/ionosonde/MIDS/data/
and
ftp://ftp.ngdc.noaa.gov/ionosonde/data/

In about 2 weeks, there will be hiccups in real time data availability
at the aforementioned links that may persist for 1 or 2 weeks. We will
work to minimize the duration of these hiccups.

The purpose for altering the layout of data is to make room for other
than individual observations (e.g. monthly IIWG, historical film scans,
etc).

The present data hierarchy is as follows:
Station/Year/Day of Year/
(e.g. BC840/2009/250/)

The new hierarchy will be:
Station/Time Scope/Year/Day of Year or Month/
(e.g. BC840/individual/2009/250/)

Our alterations will not impact the collection of real time data. We
appreciate each of your generous contributions.

Regards,
