MEETING INFORMATION:

ISEA is held approximately every three to four years and is a major event in the field of Aeronomy. It serves as a forum for scientists to report and discuss recent research results and progress relating to the physics of the mesosphere, thermosphere and ionosphere at equatorial, low- and mid-latitudes.

The ISEA 13 program includes 8 scientific sessions with oral and poster portions, distributed over four and a half conference days. In addition, after the last day of ISEA, i.e., on Saturday March 17 2012, there will be a full-day optional visit to the Jicamarca Radio Observatory to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Paracas is ~270 km south of Lima and can only be reached by car. The LOC will arrange transportation from Lima to Paracas (and back) on predefined times and locations (e.g., airport or hotels in Miraflores). Participants should plan to get to the Jorge Chavez International Airport (code LIM). Instructions on these arrangements as well as other ways of reaching Paracas are provided in the ISEA13 webpage.

The ISEA13 scientific sessions are:

S1: Irregularity Physics
S2: E and F region coupling (low and mid latitude coupling)
S3: Wave propagation between low/middle atmosphere and ionosphere
S4: Plasma neutral coupling
S5: Low and mid latitude Aeronomy and Electrodynamics
S6: Ionospheric storms and Space weather effects at low and mid latitudes
S7: New techniques, experiments, campaigns, and results
S8: Future trends and challenges

Specific details of the sessions, including conveners, description, and a list of confirmed invited speakers are indicated at the website.

We expect around 150 participants at ISEA 13. Plans are being discussed to have a student paper competition. If you plan to attend the meeting, please bookmark the ISEA 13 page http://jro.igp.gob.pe/isea13 and take action now.

Best regards and thanks for your attention,
