AUSTRALIAN REGION SUMMARY AND FORECAST
1. SUMMARY (22 FEBRUARY - 28 FEBRUARY)

   Equatorial PNG/Niue Region:
      Near predicted monthly values. Enhanced to 30% 14-20
      UT at Vanimo and enhanced up to 40% at Niue 00-07 UT.
   Northern Australian Region:
      Near predicted monthly values.
   Southern Australian and New Zealand Region:
      Near predicted monthly values. Depressed to 25% at
      Mundaring, Hobart and Christchurch mostly during
      night.
   Antarctic Region (Casey/Scott Base/Davis/Mawson):
      Near predicted monthly values with depressions to 25%
      mostly between 00-09 UT.

23 Feb    9      Normal            
MUFS:
   Equatorial PNG/Niue Region:
      Near predicted monthly values to 40% enhanced at times
      at Vanimo. Near predicted values at Port Moresby. Near
      predicted values to 30% depressed 00-04, 13, 14 UT at
      Niue. Sporadic E observed 18-21 UT at Vanimo and
      Niue.
   Northern Australian Region:
      Near predicted monthly values to 25% depressed from
      02-05 UT at Darwin and Townsville. Near predicted
      values at other stations. Sporadic E observed
      at times throughout the 24 hours.
   Southern Australian and New Zealand Region:
      Near predicted monthly values. Depressions to 20%
      observed at Mundaring 14-18 UT and at Hobart 01-09 UT.
      Sporadic E observed during night hours. Spread R
      observed at Hobart 10-19 UT.
   Antarctic Region (Casey/Scott Base/Davis/Mawson):
      Near predicted monthly values.

     Mostly near predicted monthly values,
     Depressed by 20% after local dawn.

   Equatorial PNG/Niue Region:
      Near predicted monthly values. Dusk enhancements noted
      at PNG (Vanimo, Pt Moresby) and Western Pacific (Niue).
   Northern Australian Region:
      Near predicted monthly values.
   Southern Australian and New Zealand Region:
      Near predicted monthly values. Spread F observed overnight
      in the Southern Ocean at Christchurch and MacQuarie Is.
      Strong sporadic E was also observed overnight at
      Hobart.
   Antarctic Region (Casey/Scott Base/Davis/Mawson):
      Near predicted monthly values over the UT day. Strong
      Spread F observd inside the polar cap at Casey due to
      ionospheric convection resulting from prolonged
      ~20hr southward IMF Bz merging with the geomagnetic
      field.

28 Feb   24      Normal            
MUFS:
   Equatorial PNG/Niue Region:
      Near predicted monthly values during local day,
      Enhanced by 30% during local night. Vanimo showed
      heavy absorption. Pt Moresby showed sporadic E at
      dawn.
   Northern Australian Region:
      Depressed by 20% during local day,
      Slightly above predicted monthly values during local night.
   Southern Australian and New Zealand Region:
      Near predicted monthly values during local day,
      Enhanced by 15% during local night.
   Antarctic Region (Casey/Scott Base/Davis/Mawson):
      Near predicted monthly values over the UT day. Local
      varation with Casey, Scott Base and Macquarie Is
      showing slight enhancements, Davis showing slight
      depression.

Predicted Monthly T index for February:  16
2. FORECAST (01 MARCH - 07 MARCH) 
MUFS: MUFs near predicted monthly values.
Propagation conditions: Normal. No SWFs
T index:   20

3. OUTLOOK (08 MARCH - 07 APRIL)
Generally the outlook for the next month is quiet with few recurrent disturbed priods which are only unsettled conditions. Degraded HF propagation conditions possible: 5,19-21Mar
5,19-21Mar.
