SUBJ: IPS WEEKLY GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED ON 02 OCTOBER 2014, BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES,
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
1. SUMMARY (23 SEPTEMBER - 01 OCTOBER)
K indices are in UT (0-24). For conversion to local time:
AEST = UT + 10 hours; ACST = UT + 9.5 hours; AWST = UT + 8 hours
Date K-INDICES A
23 Sep 2112 2322 7
24 Sep 2223 3333 12
25 Sep 2223 2223 9
26 Sep 2323 4223 12
27 Sep 2333 2222 10

29 Sep 1223 2133 9
30 Sep 2223 2222 8
01 Oct 2123 1321 7
*estimated from real time data
NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and International Center for Space Weather
Science and Education, Japan.
Quiet to unsettled conditions.
2. FORECAST (02 OCTOBER - 01 NOVEMBER)
Best Quiet Periods:
3-6 Oct, 8-9 Oct, 11-15 Oct, 17 Oct, 25 Oct, 28 Oct.
3. FORECAST FOR HIGH RESOLUTION AEROMAGNETIC SURVEYS
Northern Australian Regions: Quiet
Central Australian Regions: Quiet
Mildly disturbed 10 Oct, 18 Oct.
Southern Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: 10 Oct, 18 Oct.
Best Quiet Periods: 2-8 Oct, 11-15 Oct, 20-21 Oct, 24-28 Oct.
Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum of
20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be well
correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic survey
Geomagnetic activity can frequently be determined by short timescale
solar events that cannot be forecast a week in advance, particularly
at solar maximum.
