FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
1. SUMMARY (12 AUGUST - 20 AUGUST)
K indices are in UT (0-24). For conversion to local time:
AEST = UT + 10 hours; ACST = UT + 9.5 hours; AWST = UT + 8 hours

cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and International Center for Space Weather
Science and Education, Japan.
Mostly quiet. Late unsettled conditions on 12 Aug probably due to a
small coronal hole and active to minor storm levels late on 19 Aug
due to ~6 hours of southward IMF caused by a CME impact 19 Aug/0558 UT.
2. FORECAST (21 AUGUST - 20 SEPTEMBER)
Disturbed Periods:
No strong recurrent patterns, however mild activity may be experienced on:
24 Aug, 28-29 Aug 31 Aug to 2 Sep, 4 Sep, 6 Sep, 8 Sep, 15 Sep,
20 Sep.
Best Quiet Periods:
22-23 Aug, 25-27 Aug, 30 Aug, 3 Sep, 5 Sep, 9-19 Sep.
3. FORECAST FOR HIGH RESOLUTION AEROMAGNETIC SURVEYS
Northern Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: None.
Best Quiet Periods: 21 Aug to 20 Sep.
Central Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: None.
Best Quiet Periods: 21 Aug to 6 Sep, 10 to 20 Sep.
Southern Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: None.
Best Quiet Periods: 21 Aug to 6 Sep, 10 to 20 Sep.
Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum of
20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be well
correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic survey
flight-line data.
PLEASE NOTE:
Geomagnetic activity can frequently be determined by short timescale
solar events that cannot be forecast a week in advance, particularly
at solar maximum.
