ISSUED ON 23 FEBRUARY 2012, BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES,
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE

1. SUMMARY (14 FEBRUARY - 22 FEBRUARY)
K indices are in UT (0-24). For conversion to local time:
AEST = UT + 10 hours; ACST = UT + 9.5 hours; AWST = UT + 8 hours
        Australian Region*

In the IPS magnetometer data for 22 Feb, a weak (12nT) impulse
was observed at 0217UT.

*estimated from real time data

NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and Space Environment Research Center, Japan.

Unsettled with isolated active periods on 15 February,
Unsettled to minor storm on 19 Feb. Quiet to unsettled on other days.

2. FORECAST (23 FEBRUARY - 24 MARCH)
Disturbed Periods:
No strong recurrent patterns, however mild activity may be experienced on:
 23 Feb, 24 Feb, 2-3 Mar, 5-6 Mar, 11-13 Mar, 17-18 Mar.

Best Quiet Periods:
 25 Feb to 1 Mar, 4 Mar, 7-10 Mar, 14-16 Mar, 19 Mar.

3. FORECAST FOR HIGH RESOLUTION AEROMAGNETIC SURVEYS
Northern Australian Regions: NA

Central Australian Regions:
 Disturbed Periods: None.
Best Quiet Periods: 23 Feb to 11 Mar, 14-17 Mar, 20 Mar.

Southern Australian Regions:
 Disturbed Periods: None.
Best Quiet Periods: 24 Feb to 5 Mar, 8-11 Mar, 14-17 Mar, 20 Mar.

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum of
20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be well
correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic survey
flight-line data.

PLEASE NOTE:
Geomagnetic activity can frequently be determined by short timescale
solar events that cannot be forecast a week in advance, particularly
at solar maximum.
