ISSUED ON 24 FEBRUARY 2011, BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES,
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE

1. SUMMARY (15 FEBRUARY - 23 FEBRUARY)
K indices are in UT (0-24). For conversion to local time:
AEST = UT + 10 hours; ACST = UT + 9.5 hours; AWST = UT + 8 hours
        Australian Region*

*estimated from real time data

NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and Space Environment Research Center, Japan.

Quiet to unsettled with active to major storm levels in the first half
of 18 Feb. Weak impulses were observed in the IPS magnetometer data on
18 Feb at 0131 UT (27nT), 0546 UT (22nT) and 0923 UT (14nT).

2. FORECAST (24 FEBRUARY - 26 MARCH)
Disturbed Periods:
No strong recurrent patterns, however mild activity may be experienced on:
  28 Feb to 2 Mar, 13 Mar.

Best Quiet Periods:
24 Feb to 27 Feb, 3 Mar to 12 Mar, 14 Mar to 26 Mar.

3. FORECAST FOR HIGH RESOLUTION AEROMAGNETIC SURVEYS

Northern Australian Regions: Quiet

Central Australian Regions:
 Disturbed Periods: None.
Best Quiet Periods: 24 Feb to 1 Mar.

Southern Australian Regions:
 Disturbed Periods: None.
Best Quiet Periods: 24 Feb to 1 Mar.

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum of
20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be well
correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic survey
flight-line data.

PLEASE NOTE:
Geomagnetic activity can frequently be determined by short timescale
solar events that cannot be forecast a week in advance, particularly
at solar maximum.
