2. FORECAST (31 JULY - 30 AUGUST)
Disturbed Periods:
active on 8 Aug and 19 Aug.
Best Quiet Periods:
31 Jul to 7 Aug, 11 Aug to 17 Aug, 21 Aug to 26 Aug.
3. FORECAST FOR HIGH RESOLUTION AEROMAGNETIC SURVEYS
Northern Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: None.
Best Quiet Periods: 31 Jul to 26 Aug.
Central Australian Regions: NA
Southern Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: 8 Aug to 10 Aug and 18 Aug to 20 Aug.
Best Quiet Periods: 31 Jul to 6 Aug, 12 Aug to 16 Aug, 21 Aug to 26 Aug.
Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum of
20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be well
correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic survey
flight-line data.
PLEASE NOTE:
Geomagnetic activity can frequently be determined by short timescale
solar events that cannot be forecast a week in advance, particularly
at solar maximum.
