*estimated from real time data

NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and Space Environment Research Center, Japan.

Geomagnetic activity remained mostly at quiet levels from 8 to
10 July, increased upto unsettled levels on 11 July and upto
active levels from 12 to 14 July due to the effect of a high
speed solar wind stream from a recurrent coronal hole. With
the decline of this coronal hole effect, the activity level
gradually decreased to quiet to unsettled levels on 15 and
16 July and is expected to further decline during the next
24 hours.

2. FORECAST (17 JULY - 16 AUGUST)
Disturbed Periods:
Active possible on 23 July and 08 August.

Best Quiet Periods:
 18 Jul to 21 Jul, 25 Jul, 27 Jul to 7 Aug, 11 to 12 Aug and
 14 Aug to 17 Aug.

3. FORECAST FOR HIGH RESOLUTION AEROMAGNETIC SURVEYS

Northern Australian Regions: NA

Central Australian Regions:
 Disturbed Periods: None.
Best Quiet Periods: 17 Jul to 7 Aug.

Southern Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: 8 Aug to 10 Aug.
Best Quiet Periods: 17 Jul to 6 Aug.

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum of
20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be well
correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic survey
flight-line data.

PLEASE NOTE:
Geomagnetic activity can frequently be determined by short timescale
solar events that cannot be forecast a week in advance, particularly
at solar maximum.
