SUBJ: IPS WEEKLY GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED ON 15 FEBRUARY 2007, BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES,
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE

1. SUMMARY (06 FEBRUARY - 14 FEBRUARY)
K indices are in UT (0-24). For conversion to local time:
AEST = UT + 10 hours; ACST = UT + 9.5 hours; AWST = UT + 8 hours
        Australian Region*
 Date K-INDICES A

 11 Feb 1111 0122 3
 12 Feb 2113 3323 10 A weak (13nT) impulse was observed in
the IPS magnetometer data at 1013UT on 12 February.
 13 Feb 3222 2334 12
 14 Feb 3333 3333 15

Geomagnetic activity remained mostly at quiet to unsettled
levels through this period. The effect of a coronal hole is
keeping the activity level enhanced at the time of this report.

NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and Space Environment Research Center, Japan.

Quiet to unsettled conditions.

2. FORECAST (15 FEBRUARY - 17 MARCH)
Disturbed Periods:
Unsettled to active 25 to 27 February and from 12 to 14 March.

Best Quiet Periods:
17 to 24 February, 28 February to 05 March, 07 to 11 March, and
16 to 17 March.

3. FORECAST FOR HIGH RESOLUTION AEROMAGNETIC SURVEYS

Northern Australian Regions: NA

Central Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: 26 February, 08 to 09 March.
Best Quiet Periods: 16 to 23 February, 01 to 05 March.

Southern Australian Regions:
 Disturbed Periods: 26 February.
Best Quiet Periods: 17 to 23 February, 01 to 07 March.

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum of
20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be well
correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic survey
flight-line data.
