SUBJ: IPS WEEKLY GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED ON 20 DECEMBER 2007, BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES,
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE

1. SUMMARY (11 DECEMBER - 19 DECEMBER)
K indices are in UT (0-24). For conversion to local time:
AEST = UT + 10 hours; ACST = UT + 9.5 hours; AWST = UT + 8 hours
        Australian Region*
 Date K-INDICES A
 11 Dec 3333 3333 15 A weak (18nT) impulse was observed in the IPS
magnetometer data at 0609UT on 11 Dec.
 12 Dec 3333 2112 10
 13 Dec 2312 2221 7

 17 Dec 3444 4332 20 A weak (15nT) impulse was observed in the IPS
magnetometer data at 0253UT on 17 Dec.
 18 Dec 2334 4323 16
 19 Dec 2232 2222 8

*estimated from real time data

NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and Space Environment Research Center, Japan.

Mild increase in activity 17-18 December due to coronal hole,
otherwise mostly quiet to unsettled levels observed.

2. FORECAST (20 DECEMBER - 19 JANUARY)
Disturbed Periods: 12-15 Jan, mostly active levels with minor storm
levels possible.

Best Quiet Periods: 22 Dec to 8 Jan.

3. FORECAST FOR HIGH RESOLUTION AEROMAGNETIC SURVEYS

Northern Australian Regions: NA

Central Australian Regions:
 Disturbed Periods: None.
Best Quiet Periods: 22 Dec to 2 Jan.

Southern Australian Regions:
 Disturbed Periods: 14-15 Jan.
Best Quiet Periods: 23 Dec to 2 Jan.

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum of
20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be well
correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic survey
flight-line data.
