Solar activity is expected to be at R0 levels on 10-Oct, with isolated
low level R1 flaring possible. The solar wind speed unexpectedly
steadily increased to strong over 09-Oct indicating the influence of a
solar coronal hole wind stream, possibly originating from a group of
patchy thin coronal holes currently visible in the southern solar
hemisphere. The solar wind is now expected to be moderate to strong
for 10-Oct. A mild increase in geomagnetic activity was observed in
the Australian region on 09-Oct, with an isolated G1 period observed
at Learmonth (WA) overnight, other sites remained below G1. ASWAS G0
geomagnetic conditions are generally expected on 10-Oct, with the
chance of a further isolated G1 period. Southern Australian region
MUFs were mildly depressed after local dawn but are expected to
recover early in the UT day 10-Oct. Northern Australian region MUFs
are expected to remain enhanced. There is a slight chance for an
isolated minor fadeout today.
