[ips-sf] SWS Summary Forecast for 06 January - issued 2336UT/05-Jan-2019 [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

rwc rwc at ips.gov.au
Sun Jan 6 10:36:06 EST 2019

Very low solar activity with a remote chance for C-class flares is
expected for UT day 6 January. Earth is currently under the influence
of moderately elevated solar wind speeds associated with a coronal
hole. As a consequence, geomagnetic activity in the Australian region
is expected to be at quiet and unsettled levels today; isolated active
periods are also possible. High-frequency radio communication users
are advised to use predicted monthly frequencies or slightly lower
frequencies because mild ionospheric depressions are possible due to
relatively low levels of ionising radiation from the Sun and increased
geomagnetic activity associated with the passage of the coronal hole.
