[ips-sf] SWS Summary Forecast for 15 February - issued 2349UT/14-Feb-2018 [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

rwc rwc at ips.gov.au
Thu Feb 15 10:49:25 EST 2018

Very low levels of solar activity are expected for today, 15 February.
On 12 February, Active Region 2699 produced a long duration C1.5 flare
accompanied by a CME. The CME is expected to arrive later today. In
addition, a corotating interaction region and high-speed solar wind
streams associated with the recurrent coronal hole are expected to
arrive today as well. These factors will result in increased solar
wind speeds. The geomagnetic conditions are predicted to increase to
active and minor storm levels. High-frequency radio communications are
expected to degrade from normal to fair as a consequence of the
increased geomagnetic activity.
