Solar activity was at Low levels during the UT day 27 March. Low
levels of solar activity with a slight chance of Moderate activity are
expected today, 28 March. The Earth is currently under the influence
of Very Strong solar wind streams from a large coronal hole, currently
at 680km/s. Geomagnetic activity reached Minor Storm levels across the
Australian region on UT day 27 March. The Australian Dst index reached
-120 nT. A prolonged southward IMF Bz could lead to similar
geomagnetic condition today,28 March. Minor to Moderate MUF
depressions and degradations in HF conditions due to increased
geomagnetic activity are expected today. Auroras may be visible
tonight, 28 March in Tasmania.
