rwc rwc at ips.gov.au
Thu Jan 19 10:50:43 EST 2017

Very low flare activity is expected on 19-Jan. The solar wind speed is
enhanced and is currently around 570 km/s due to a mid-latitude
coronal hole. Geomagnetic conditions are currently at quiet to
unsettled levels but may increase to active or minor storm levels due
to the high-speed solar wind. High-frequency radio communications may
experience moderate depressions in maximum useable frequencies and
periods with poor propagation conditions. Auroras may be visible on
the local night of 19 January in Tasmania and possibly the coastline
of Victoria.
