[ips-sf] SWS Summary Forecast for 22 November - issued 0017UT/22-Nov-2016 [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

rwc rwc at ips.gov.au
Tue Nov 22 11:17:05 EST 2016

Currently there is only one (almost invisible) sunspot on the Sun.
Expect Very low solar flare activity. A large recurrent coronal hole
has taken geoeffective position on the solar disk. As a result, today,
(22 November) solar winds are expected to reach strong levels. If the
Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) turned southward for prolonged
period, geomagnetic activity may reach Major Storm levels,
particularly at higher latitudes. Thus there is chance that aurora may
be visible at the local night, today, from Tasmania and parts of
Victoria, Australia. HF radio communications fair to normal at low to
mid latitudes with isolated degraded conditions at high latitudes.
