rwc rwc at ips.gov.au
Sun Jul 24 09:51:57 EST 2016

Solar activity was high during 23 July because active region 2567
produced three M5 and greater x-ray flares: M5.0 peaking at 0211 UT,
M7.6 peaking at 0516 UT, and M5.5 peaking at 0531 UT. The last flare
was accompanied by a type II radio burst. Two CMEs associated with the
first and second flares were observed in the SOHO LASCO imagery. The
CMEs are not Earth directed. However, a glancing blow affecting Earth
is possible on 25 July. Low to moderate solar flare activity is
expected on 24 July due to a chance that active region 2567 may
produce M-class flares. Light to moderate solar wind. Geomagnetic
conditions at quiet to unsettled levels. Conditions for high-frequency
radio communications are expected to be normal to mildly depressed.
Short-wave radio fadeouts are possible.
