rwc rwc at ips.gov.au
Fri Feb 12 11:13:55 EST 2016

Solar activity on the UT day 11 Feb was at low levels with two C-class
flares. The strongest one, C8.9 caused a Type II radio emission with
an estimate shock speed of 480 km/s and halo coronal mass ejection
(CME). It seems that this CME will affect Earth within the next 2-3
days. Details on the impact of this event will be provided after the
completion of the model runs. The current solar winds is near 400 km/s
and has gradually enhanced in the last 6 hours. This is due to a small
equatorial coronal hole is approaching a geoeffective location on the
solar disk. Conditions for HF radio wave propagation are above normal,
slightly higher than the monthly predicted values.
