Thu Aug 4 10:28:58 EST 2016

Very low solar activity with no flaring is expected today, 4 August.
The solar wind speeds of greater ~400 km/s were observed throughout
the UT day associated with high speed streams from a large positive
polarity equatorial coronal. The Australian Dst index dipped to a
minimum of -130 nT at 03/1100 UT during the passage of this storm.
Elevated solar wind speed and active geomagnetic conditions are
expected to continue today (4 August) in response to the coronal hole.
The aurora again may be visible tonight from Tasmania and some parts
of Victoria, Australia. High-frequency radio communication conditions
are expected to be moderately depressed today over the Australasia
region.
