Tue Aug 2 09:51:04 EST 2016

Solar activity on UT day 1 August was at very low levels, with no
flares. Very low solar activity with no flaring is expected today, 2
August. The solar wind speeds were at quiet levels of 350 km/s on UT
day 1 August. Today, the solar winds are expected to enhance in
response to the approaching high speed streams from a large positive
polarity equatorial coronal hole. The geomagnetic conditions are
expected to reach active levels in response to the anticipated coronal
hole effects. The aurora may be visible on the local nights of 2 and 3
August from Tasmania and some parts of Victoria, Australia.
High-frequency radio communication conditions are expected to be
moderately depressed today, 2 August, over the Australasia region due
to very low levels of solar ionising radiation. HF users are advised
to continue to use lower than the monthly predicted frequencies for
the next 24 hours.
