[ips-sf] IPS Summary Forecast for 08 April - issued 0023UT/08-Apr-2016 [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

rwc rwc at ips.gov.au
Fri Apr 8 10:23:37 EST 2016

Solar activity on UT day 7 April was at low levels with few weak
C-class flares. The solar wind has been at moderate level of ~380 km/s
in the past 24 hrs. The solar wind conditions are expected to enhance
slightly over the next 24 hours in response to a small recurrent
southern hemisphere coronal hole moving into a geoeffective location.
The geomagnetic conditions are currently at minor storm levels and are
expected to remain at these levels for the next 6 -12 hours. This is
due to sustained strongly southwards IMF Bz starting from 07/1800 UT.
The aurora may be visible from as low as some parts of the state of
Victoria, Australia, on the local night of 8 April. High-frequency
radio communications conditions are expected to be heavily depressed
today, 8 April, response to the storm conditions.
