[ips-sf] IPS Summary Forecast for 12 September - issued 2344UT/11-Sep-2015

rwc rwc at ips.gov.au
Sat Sep 12 09:44:15 EST 2015

The anticipated effect of coronal hole proved stronger than expected.
Major geomagnetic storm was observed today with isolated severe storm
periods recorded at some high latitude locations. As the solar wind
stream is going strong, geomagnetic activity may remain high at major
storm levels today. Auroras may be visible tonight. Due to continued
very low levels of ionising radiation and strong geomagnetic activity,
the HF conditions may remain fair to poor at low and mid latitudes and
poor at high latitudes today with the possibility of mild to
significant MUF depressions.
