[ips-sf] IPS Summary Forecast for 20 August - issued 0000UT/20-Aug-2015

Thu Aug 20 10:00:24 EST 2015

Low solar flare activity is expected over the next 24 hours, with some
chance of weak C-class flare. There is a new active Region (2403) that
has recently rotated into view on the southeast limb of the solar
disk, and this has been the main source of flaring over the last 24
hours. A high speed solar wind stream emanating from a large Coronal
Hole (CH 683) is expected to affect Earth over the next 1-2 days and
possibly trigger minor geomagnetic storms in high latitude regions
provided the interplanetary magnetic field conditions are favourable.
Conditions for HF radio propagation were depressed during 19 Aug and
similar conditions are expected on 20 Aug. HF radio operators should
try using lower frequencies if possible.
