Moderate solar flare activity, with a chance of high activity. The
large, complex sunpot region produced an X3 flare on 24 Oct at 2141
UT. The flare caused a short-wave fadeout with approximate duration
2110 to 2320 UT that affected HF skywave paths with ionospheric
reflection points in the Australian/Pacific region and similar
longitudes. Moderate solar wind. Geomagnetic conditions at quiet to
unsettled levels. Short-wave radio fadeouts likely. High-frequency
radio communications normal to good.
