Wed Jul 9 09:30:05 EST 2014

The 10.7 cm solar radio flux was 201 and the sunspot number was 152
during 8 July. Active Region 2113 was the most active region on the
visible disk during the previous 24 hours, producing several C class
flares followed by an M6.5 X-ray flare peaking at 16:20 UT. The large
Active Regions 2108 and 2109 did not produce noteworthy activity
during 8 July. They are presently rotating through the geo-effective
region and may still release an M class flare. The solar wind speed
arriving at Earth has been light and is presently about 340 km/s.
There have been brief periods of weak Bz southward conditions and
geomagnetic activity may become unsettled if faster solar wind arrives
today. Conditions for HF radio propagation are expected to remain
strong due to the high solar radio flux levels.
