[ips-sf] IPS Summary Forecast for 19 March - issued 0005UT/19-Mar-2013

Tue Mar 19 11:05:27 EST 2013

Customers reported observing bright auroras from Tasmania on the
evening of 17th March. The geomagnetic storm which produced these
auroras continues to decline and bright auroras are not expected to be
seen from Southern Australia this evening. The solar wind speed
continues to decline to normal levels and the magnetic field imbedded
within the solar wind does not presently favour further geomagnetic
activity. Solar flare activity is expected to be low to moderate
during the next three days. A new coronal mass ejection occurred at
about 16 UT on 17th March. High-frequency radio communications are
expected to recover from the strongly depressed conditions of 18th
March and return to fair to normal by tomorrow. Short-wave radio
fadeouts are possible.
