Geomagnetic activity has been at Active levels with some Minor Storm
periods, due to the impact of a coronal mass ejection (CME). Auroras
have been in the evening of the 7th of June from locations in Tasmania
due to this activity. The orientation of the interplanetary magnetic
field has now become unfavourable for producing geomagnetic activity
and conditions have returned to Quiet. Auroras are not expected to be
visible during local night in the Australian region on the 8th of
June. A further CME is expected to give a glancing blow in roughly 24
hours time, possibly causing Active levels of geomagnetic activity.
The ionosphere has been enhanced by the recent activity and conditions
for HF radio communications remain normal.
