[ips-sf] IPS Summary Forecast for 31 August - issued 2326UT/30-Aug-2012

rwc rwc at ips.gov.au
Fri Aug 31 09:26:45 EST 2012

Flare activity is mostly at low levels, with some moderate activity
from a sunspot region that is just about to rotate around the limb of
the Sun into a visible position. Further moderate activity may be
expected in coming days from this region. The solar wind speed is
currently light but is expected to pick up sometime in the next 24
hours due to a coronal hole high speed stream. This elevated wind
speed is expected to cause some unsettled geomagnetic activity and
consequently variable, though mostly good, conditions for
high-frequency radio communication over the next few days.
