[Ips-geo-warning] SWS GEOMAGNETIC WARNING issued 2345 UT on 28 Oct 2021

SUBJ: SWS GEOMAGNETIC DISTURBANCE WARNING 21/33
ISSUED AT 2344UT/28 OCTOBER 2021
BY THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE.

AR2887 produced X1.0 flare at 28/1535 UT, which triggered a halo 
CME. The CME is expected to arrive at Earth in the first half 
of UT day 30 October. As a result, the geomagnetic conditions 
are expected to reach major storm levels with a chance of severe 
storm periods. The global Kp index is expected to reach 6 (G2 
storms), with a chance of 7 (G3 storms). On the local night of 
30 October (and maybe 31 October), aurora may be visible from 
Tasmania, the coastline of Victoria and the southwest coast of 
Western Australia.
