SUBJ: IPS GEOMAGNETIC DISTURBANCE WARNING 04/05
ISSUED AT 20/0425Z JANUARY 2004
BY THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE.

MILDLY INCREASED GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY EXPECTED FROM 20-21
JANUARY 2004 DUE TO CORONAL HOLE HIGH SPEED WIND STREAM
AND POSSIBLE GLANCING IMPACT FROM CME.

Solar wind speeds remain elevated due to a coronal hole solar
wind stream. There is the possibility of a glancing blow from
a CME associated with the M5-flare observed on 17 January which
is expected to impact the Earth on 20 January and possibly
result in minor storm levels.
