SUBJ: IPS GEOMAGNETIC DISTURBANCE WARNING 02/12
ISSUED AT 18/0535Z APRIL 2002
BY THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE.

INCREASED GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY EXPECTED
FROM 19-20 APRIL 2002

The geomagnetic activity, enhanced on 18 April due to 
the effect of the halo CME observed on 15 April, is 
expected to go down to 'unsettled to active' level in 
the first half of 19 April. Another halo CME, observed
on 17 April is expected to impact the earth on 19 April 
(late hours). The geomagnetic acitivity is,therefore,
expected to rise to 'active to minor storm' level in the
late hours on 19 April and again drop down to active level
sometime in the second half of 20 April.
