SUBJ: IPS GEOMAGNETIC DISTURBANCE WARNING 01/43
ISSUED AT 04/2128Z NOVEMBER 2001
BY THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE.

AN X1 SOLAR FLARE WAS OBSERVED AT 1620UT ON 04 NOV 01. 
FLARE PARAMETERS SUGGEST A MASS EJECTION HAS 
OCCURED. THE FLARE OCCURED JUST WEST OF THE 
CENTRE OF THE SOLAR DISK, A GOOD GEOEFFECTIVE
LOCATION.

EVENT DATA SUGGESTS A SHOCK ARRIVAL WINDOW 11-20UT
ON 06 NOV. STRONG GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED
POST-SHOCK ARRIVAL.

INCREASED GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY EXPECTED
FROM MID 06-07 NOVEMBER 2001

GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY FORECAST 
06 Nov:  Initially unsettled, with major storm levels
         during second half of UT day. Chance of
         severe storm levels.
07 Nov:  Storm activity expected to continue for most
         of the day, declining toward end of UT day.
