SUBJ: IPS GEOMAGNETIC DISTURBANCE WARNING 01/11
ISSUED AT 06/2130Z APRIL 2001
BY THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE.

LASCO and EIT observed a full halo CME on 5 Apr following
the M5 flare at 1657UT(peak) from region 9415. Active to minor
levels of geomagnetic activity are expected for the 8 Apr early
in the UT day after the anticipated arrival of the associated
shock.

A second full halo CME was observed in association with a X5.6
flare from the same active region. Type IV storm noise is 
currently observed by Culgoora. The anticipated shock associated
with the disturbance is expected to arrive on 9 Apr and to trigger
a minor storm, with chance of isolated major storm periods.
