1A. SOLAR SUMMARY
Activity 30 Jan: Low

Flares: none.

Observed 10.7 cm flux/Equivalent Sunspot Number for 30 Jan: 105/54

1B. SOLAR FORECAST
             31 Jan 01 Feb 02 Feb
Activity Very low to low Very low to low Very low to low

COMMENT: Solar flare activity was Very Low for the UT day, 30
Jan. All visible regions on the solar disk are either stable
or declining. The 3-day outlook is for Very Low to Low solar
activity with weak C class flares. SDO images noted a disappearing
solar filament from the southwest limb at approximately 2100UT.
A CME was observed in SOHO LASCO imagery about this time, unlikely
to be geoeffective. No other Earthward directed CMEs were noted
in available SOHO imagery for 30 Jan. The solar wind speed is
currently under 300km/s. The Bz component of the IMF varied between
+/-4 nT over the last 24 hours. Expect the solar wind speed to
be at nominal levels 31 Jan-2 Feb.

Observed Regional daily pc3 Indices 30 Jan :
      Darwin NA
      Townsville 36 (Quiet to unsettled)

      Melbourne 0 (Quiet)

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.

NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and International Center for Space Weather
Science and Education, Japan.
