1B. SOLAR FORECAST
             06 Apr 07 Apr 08 Apr
Activity Moderate to high Moderate to high Moderate to high

10.7cm/SSN 210/161 210/161 205/156

COMMENT: The proton fluxes associated with the recent X17 (Y1.7)
flare from region 9393 are still above the event threshold. The
active region 9415 on the south east quadrant has been slightly
declining but retained a complex magnetic configuration. Further
M-class and eventually X-class flares could be expected.

2A. MAGNETIC SUMMARY
Geomagnetic field for Australian Region 05 Apr: Quiet to Unsettled

Estimated Indices 05 Apr : A K

      Hobart 11 2233 2333

Observed Regional daily pc3 Indices 05 APR :
      Darwin 18 (Quiet)
      Townsville 2 (Quiet)
      Learmonth 0 (Quiet)
      Canberra 61 (Active)
      Hobart 77 (Active)
Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3 indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3 indices for that station.

Estimated AFr/Ap Indices 05 Apr : A
           Fredericksburg 15
           Planetary 15

Observed AFr/Ap Indices 04 Apr : A K
           Fredericksburg 12
           Planetary 15 2222 3452

2B. MAGNETIC FORECAST
Date Ap Conditions
06 Apr 12 Unsettled
07 Apr 12 Unsettled
08 Apr 14 Unsettled to Active
COMMENT: The shock originating from region 9415 recent CME activity
expected for the 5 April did not eventuate. There is a chance
of unsettled to active conditions for the 8 April following the
M5.1 flare and associated type IV from region 9415 possibly indicative
of CME underway. The CME associated the M8.4 flare observed from
region 9393 at 0922 UT on 5 April does not appear be earth directed
and is unlekily to be geo-effective.

05 Apr Normal Normal Poor-fair
PCA Event : 10Mev Proton/PCA Event Began 03 04 2001 0015UT and is in progress

3B. GLOBAL HF PROPAGATION FORECAST
	            Latitude Band
Date Low Middle High

08 Apr Normal Normal Normal-Fair
COMMENT: Shortwave fadeouts can again be expected on daylight
HF circuits. Degraded HF conditions observed over past 24 hours
at polar latitudes due to proton event still in progress. Degraded
HF conditions expected for 5 Apr did not eventuate.

08 Apr 160 10 to 20% above predicted monthly values
COMMENT: IPS HF Communications Warning 19 was issued on 5 April
and is current for interval 6-8 April (SWFs) . Shortwave fadeouts
expected on daylight HF circuits. Polar region HF comms still
affected by PCA with proton fluxes still above event threshold.
Depressed conditions for 5 April did not eventuate as the anticipated
shock from region 9415 CME on 3 April did not hit.
