The sky was cloudy low down and the colours were not apparent to the naked eye, but were revealed by the fisheye camera lens and UV filter. I received an Aurora Watch email at 1204 hours AEST and an Aurora Alert email at 1420 hours AEST on 1 June 2013. I took this photograph at about 8.45am 29-6-13. Location: Port Huon Tasmania. There were moving shafts of light, ripples across the sky and a general bright glow. Colour to the naked eye was somewhat desaturated. It was possible to see an overall green colour. At times there was a quite strong , orange -red colour close to the horizon. The light show went on and off until about 10pm. Hope this helps. I was surprised to see it so far north, but with little to zero light pollution it was quite spectacular. A glowing horizon with beams of green to white light which appeared to move and break across the southern sky.?
