this is my report that i posted on the "southern-aurora · Southern
Australasia Aurora Alert Netwrk"

I went out last night at 10:25 and saw a bright green arc with a few
beams shooting up, i took a few photo's and then phoned paul moss in
new zealand, his phone was engaged so i rang back a minute later and
it was still engaged, so i assumed that someone else must be
informing him.
Then i got on the net and posted a message to this site "southern-aurora ·
Southern Australasia Aurora Alert Netwrk ,
i thinkflo_66 was the only one online at that time.
then i went back out and took some more photos, the display died
down at 11pm local time, and thick clouds came over too.
so i went and watched tv, getting up every hour to see if the clouds
had cleard, at 1:20am i got up and the clouds were clear in the
south but there was still a lot of cloud over head and to the north,
but lucky for us the aurora is not in the north and it was just
starting to fire up again, i walked down to the park and with my
camera and tripod and took a few photos, then it really started
going, there were beams going all the way up to the zenith and there
was a lot of colour red, pink, green, and purple.
the display died down at 2am but i continued to watch for half an
hour, then the clouds came over again, so i went to bed, i got up at
3:48am for one last look, i could still see a green and red glow
through small breaks in the cloud but i was really tired so i went
back to bed.
Paul Anderson.
