SUBJ: SWS AURORA WATCH
ISSUED AT 0226 UT ON 03 Apr 2022 by Space Weather Services
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE


A long duration M3.9 from AR2976 that occurred on April 02/1340
UT produced a fast moving CME (estimated speed of ~1600 km/s).
Source region, AR2976 was located at ~N15W45 at the time of CME
eruption. Model runs indicate that this CME may impact earth
on early UT day 04 April. Geomagnetic conditions can reach G1
levels, with a chance of G2 levels. Aurora may be visible on
the local night of 04 April from Tasmania and parts of Southern
Victoria. Aurora alerts will follow if significant geomagnetic
activity actually occurs.
