SUBJ: SWS AURORA WATCH
ISSUED AT 0026 UT ON 06 May 2018 by Space Weather Services
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE

The solar wind is currently under the influence of a high speed solar
wind stream from a recurrent coronal hole. This will result in
increased geomagnetic activity and possible visible auroras during
local nighttime hours for southernmost Australian regions (e.g.
Tasmania and possibly coastline of Victoria) should favourable viewing
conditions, high solar wind speeds and sustained southward Bz
conditions eventuate. Aurora alerts will follow if significant
geomagnetic activity occurs. Please check our Aurora page at
http://www.sws.bom.gov.au/Aurora and the "Auroral Oval Tool" for
information on viewing locations.
